Bayview Campground is a hidden gem situated near the scenic Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore. Surrounded by lush pine trees and located at an impressive elevation of 7,100 feet, this campground offers a unique camping experience. One of its distinguishing features is that it operates on a first-come-first-serve basis, with no reservations accepted. It serves as the trailhead for Cascade Falls and Desolation Wilderness, making it an ideal spot for hiking enthusiasts. The campground’s opening and closing dates are dependent on the weather. In addition to camping, the Bayview Trailhead and Day-Use area offers magnificent views of Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe, especially from the steep trail leading up Maggie’s Peak.
